In my last post I wrote how Lucas did awesome on our flight home from Washington..the only reason why was because he slept the whole way, and the reason he slept? well he was developing quite the fever. This started that Sunday on our way home, and gradually his fever crept higher and higher, it hit 103 on Monday (despite our motrin and Tylenol, luke warm bath, etc.) night so we figured we'd take him to his pediatrician on Tuesday and Tim called in sick for his week of work, but of course that Tuesday during the day, it started to get better and it dropped to 99, so we had figured his fever broke, but THEN Tuesday night, it crept all the way back up to 104.7!! this was of course at 8PM, so we took him into our ER after our nurse line nurse told us we had to call 911 ASAP. JEEZ- I think that was a little over reaction! When we took him in he was very lethargic and all he was doing for the past few days was sleeping, in between sips of water and a few crackers here and there. At the ER he took some tests for RSV, the flu, and strep (all negative) and determined his lungs were a bit crackling-pneumonitis, maybe some redness in his ear otitis media and throat, and high fever, the ER doc wasnt quite sure, so we were give a prescription of amoxicillin and sent home to continue with motrin/Tylenol-- this continued on Wednesday, fever dropped slightly maybe 102, and then Thursday we took him into our Pediatrician who thought he was showing symptoms of hand, foot, mouth disease (which was going around day care), she found a sore on his foot and in his mouth, we were told it should clear up by the following week. His fever came down, and he seemed like he was back to his old self by Sunday and we were in clear! Tim went back to work and Lucas went back to his first day at day care after 2.5 weeks off last Tuesday, and did just fine, until later that night I noticed a little rash on his back (he had a new shirt on and sometimes that happens for him (a little dermatitis), so I figured not a big deal). UNTIL he woke up the next morning, RASH everywhere! Ick, it looked bad, all over his face, back, legs, arms stomach, feet, palms, everywhere!! No fever and he was acting just fine! I called daycare - they said he couldnt come anyways because he had to be cleared by an MD if he did have a rash, called work to call to cancel all my patients and headed into our pediatrician once more! UFTA! This time she said he either has Roseola or had mono (and supposedly when you are given amoxicillin and have mono you can get the same type of reaction). They did some lab work, Lucas did great, barely cried when the needle went it and now we are just awaiting the results! I am 99.9% sure it was Roseola, he followed those symptoms exactly! His rash is completely gone, no more fever and Now he is finally (fingers crossed) back to his old sweet self!! :)
