The Irelands: Trip to Washington!

Last week we took a trip to Yelm, WA for a Lucas to spend some long awaited time at his Grandpa and Grandma Ireland's house. Our trip went perfectly! I am usually pretty unlucky when it comes to flying standby, but we lucked out! We got a whole row to ourselves on the way out and Lucas played the whole time-- and then fell asleep with 5 min left of the flight! :) The flight attendant was awesome and took him up/down the aisles and played with him for a good 15 min in the back of the plane! He loves flirting with new people! We got the to Yelm late on Wednesday night, and woke up the next morning for a fun filled day at the Tacoma Zoo with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Greg, Aunt Christine, and cousins Esther, Jadon, and Rahab! We saw lots of fun animals and some huge sharks and walrus! The next day we hung out at his Grandparents house all day and played. Tim and I were able to take the kayaks out on the lake for a few hours while Lucas napped! It was beautiful on the lake! We also were able to take a tour of Uncle Greg and Aunt Chris's new lake house! They have such a beautiful view and such a cute house so far! It will be fun to see the continued progress on it! The next day we celebrated Lucas's first birthday at lunch time with yummy cupcakes and fun presents and then went to the hands on children's museum in Olympia! So much fun to see all the cousins play with all the neat activities! Then we went over to the Olympia Bears football game-- where Tim used to play! Grandpa Don and Uncle Greg were refs at the game!
The next day we woke up at 3:30 AM pulled Lucas out of his bed and transferred him successfully into the car seat to make our 7 AM flight back to MSP. Unfortunately we didn't get on our first flight - it was packed full and there would have been no way for us to sit together, but we did get on the 9AM flight and again, got seats together in the economy comfort row! So awesome! We were also able to relax because Lucas slept the whole entire flight home!

Overall we had a ton of fun and had such a great trip and our so thankful we have such great family to visit! Lucas really started to love his cousin Esther! Giving her lots of hugs and kisses and always giggling at her! It was super cute! Jadon also played well with Lucas, but Lucas kept on messing up all his cars -- Jadon wasnt too impressed ;) And lastly, Rahab wasn't so sure of Lucas at first, he came off a bit aggressive with stealing her toys and a few love pats to her head, but by the end she was putting him in his place as well! Awesome to see all his Ireland cousins playing so well with our little man!
